A Salvaged Soul

I saw a rain drop pass me by, one lonely day. Its face was masked by impurity though. One would suspect that such a divinity, that comes from the magnificent heavens above, would be so pure and innocent. Honestly, humanity is that single drop of divinity that has been shaded by this darkness. If you may let me explain what divinity means to me, than maybe you will understand. We are not divine you see, well not anymore. Humanities intention was never to be divine, but to be pleasured by social gatherings. We care less about the heavens above and more about the sins below. No matter what the excuse is, is it right to sin a certain way? Is it right to belittle yourself in front of your peers? What I mean by divinity is not religion; it is the slight impaction of society on our hearts. What pressures us into doing something? There are many sins that we have taken to heart. This impaction comes from society on our souls rather than the religion that we so clearly despise nowadays. You see, divinity of the heart is not like divinity of the religious stature. As defined by Marriam Webster divinity is, relating to, or proceeding directly from God or a god. Is God a religious being nowadays? You may presume that I am talking about my God, but alas I am talking about the god that we so definitively resort to everyday. It is a god that does not see. It is a god that does not move. It is a god that does talk. It is a god that does not smell. A god who cannot do one thing for you, but yet we worship him, her, or it, everyday of our lives. Whether this god to you is a cheerleader who is hotter and better looking than you. Whether this god is a computer in your room or a car in your garage. Whether this god is a fashion statement. I frankly think we should not walk down this road. Why should we consider such items gods? Even though you may have not realized it, our nonmalleable items are being worshiped. Things like this weave our societies into holes so small that we can barley squeeze out of. It's not that I myself do not sit down on a computer, or look at the cheerleader for a sense of approval, or drive my car at times, but there is a limit. I cannot worship a thing that does not have true meaning to me. I might look back at this moment with a sense of regret and remorse, so why I commit such a sin and call this god? Subconsciously these things are divine to us, but we can still cram out of that small weave we've stitched, but only if we try. Sometimes we look at conformity with a sense of divinity. We look at our sorority sisters or frat brothers with a sense of divinity. Why should we though? They were not there from the beginning to help us through those tough times and most likely they wont be there to help us through the toughest of all times as well. They will be forever our friends. They will be forever our soul mates, but never will they be divine enough to be our gods. We are not going to be labeled as whores or sluts. We will not be labeled as freaks and animals. If we do conform to society and follow this devil to its lair, then maybe we deserve those names. The people who do not conform are normal, but if normality consists of conformity, then why is it that we are not all divine? Why is it that we are not considered as the gods of this world? Choose my friends whether to follow this atrocity, or steer clear from it. Either choice you make your bound to be made fun of or called names. It’s not easy though to follow all the way and if the devil truly is his name, then we should stop dancing forever in his name.
